We probably haven’t seen it all with web site design, but we can help you learn from others mistakes. Here are 5 of them:
1. Objective ambiguity.
If you’re web site goals aren’t clear, the project may take a long time to complete.
2. Wrong focus.
The web site should be about your prospects, not the way your company has been organized for 40 years. Design the web site around users, not your company.
3. Lack of Search Engine Optimization.
You had better plan on SEO when you start a website – otherwise the source code, navigation, page headings and text can be off the mark.
4. Cluttered design.
Keep it simple. You don’t need to convey everything to win someone over.
5. Poor Calls to Action.
Too many web sites go for overkill – providing too many options. Or they barely manage to ask a visitor for anything. Be clear about what you want someone to do – download info, call you, order something, etc.
